Planning Commission

The Town of Gurley Planning Commission advises the Mayor, Town Council, and Town Departments on broad planning goals, policies, and plans for the physical development of the city. The Commission seeks to provide for the orderly growth, development, and redevelopment of the Town of Gurley.

The local ordinance passed by the Town Council granted powers and authorities to the Commission consistent with the State’s enabling legislation for planning commissions, approved by the State legislature on September 14th, 1935. The Planning Commission was established by the Gurley Town Council on January 29th, 1981.

Rezoning Process

To petition for a rezoning with the Town of Gurley, the applicant must complete the following:

  1. Contact Planning Commission staff to verify property eligibility for rezoning. All properties are not eligible for rezoning.
  2. Rezoning application with original signatures. See application link below.  No copies or e-signatures accepted.
  3. A copy of a recorded property deed verifying ownership.
  4. A legal description or survey, if available.
  5. Articles of organization or legal documentation, if exercising authority on behalf of an entity, organization, or power of attorney.
  6. Pay applicable fee as indicated on application.
