Seeking Applications for:

The Full Time Position of
Town Clerk/Municipal Court Clerk

 
            The Town Clerk is responsible to the Mayor for the day-to-day administration of the Office of the Clerk.  This is a salaried position with benefits including paid holidays, eligibility for Blue Cross/Blue Shield Alabama health insurance, retirement benefits through Retirement Systems of Alabama, paid vacation and sick leave.
            The Town is looking for a candidate that has experience in an office environment, and possesses knowledge of accounting, with QuickBooks experience a plus.  The candidate will be evaluated on their ability to multi-task, manage his/her time and supervise assigned clerical personnel.

           
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  1. General clerical duties to include typing, filing, phone service, purchasing, data entry, etc.
  2. Responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, depository and quarterly taxes, and general bookkeeping as required for the Town.
  3. Preparation of the agenda for the Town Council and taking of the minutes at the Town Council Meetings.
  4. Preparation and maintenance of Town ordinances and resolutions.
  5. Management and processing of Town elections as required by State and local laws.
  6. General contact for citizens concerning day to day Town business.
  7. Responsibility and accountability for all deposits.
  8. Responsible for Water/Sewer Department billing and accepting payments, answer any billing inquiries, making payment adjustments or corrects, submitting reports and taxes monthly to the State of Alabama.
  9. Municipal Court Clerk: Prepare and organize citations, disposition administrator, oversee probation program, responsible for all records and citations, tracking inmates and bail status, acquiring defendants driving history, oversee complaints and issuing warrants for arrest.
  10. Managing Town Website and be knowledgeable in MS Office.
  11. Ability to pass background investigation and bonding required.
     
    Salary based on qualifications and experience.
