​Experienced Building Officer/Inspector

Job Type: Part Time
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Qualifications:  
* High School Graduate or equivalent 
* Alabama Driving License
*Experience in Construction Trades
*Hold an Alabama Home Builders License or General Contractor’s License
*Possession of or ability to readily obtain the appropriate state certification for the type of inspections conducted.

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for directing the Town of Gurley building inspections and permitting functions. 
To include: 
Communicating with architects, engineers, developers, builders, contractors and homeowners on matters related to building code requirements and related federal, state, and local codes.
Reviewing plans, plats, blueprints and specifications for construction, renovation and alterations to ensure compliance with codes, zoning, ordinances, subdivision regulations and ADA requirements.
Issues building Permits and setting related fees.
Directing and working with other inspectors on residential and commercial projects.
Reports to the Gurley Town Council and Mayor on current status of town building and construction projects.
 Working with other Town of Gurley departments on coordinating services, i.e., water, sewer, electrical, removing grading materials, etc. 
This position also ensures the Certificate of Occupancy inspection is performed on all new businesses and new construction projects.
Works closely with the Town of Gurley Fire Chief on burning requests, commercial safety inspections, etc.
This position requires the ability to perform in an office setting, use of computers, maintain office files, submit reports and represent the Town of Gurley in meetings and official functions.
The ability to climb stairs, traverse over uneven ground, move safely over construction sites during inspections.
